Our goal is to provide high quality Early Childhood Program that meets the physical, social, emotional, cognitive needs of each child within a creative environment. Our goals are met through developmentally appropriate practices and we strive to continually uphold the standards and criteria of the NAEYC Accredited Programs.

Our school serves children ages 18 months through pre-K. We provide after transitional kindergarten care, including transportation. We have four classrooms, which are thoughtfully divided into different learning and development groups. We strive to give our children the best opportunity to develop through hands-on exploration, open play and socialization. We also provide group learning activities such as story time and musical activities, all designed to inspire each child’s creativity and development.

We encourage you to check out what some of the classrooms are doing below by clicking on one of our doors (the blue door is the office and parent/teacher room). Read about our teaching philosophies in our curriculum section.  You can also check out our policies page to see how we protect the health and well-being of our children.

Our Philosophy:

  1. Our goals are met through developmentally appropriate practice.

  2. We know that children learn best in an atmosphere of love and respect for the individual.

  3. We see and treat each child as an individual with unique ways of learning and experiencing his/her world.

  4. We treat all children with respect and dignity.

  5. We show appreciation for children’s unique cultural backgrounds.

  6. We believe that parents are an integral part of our program.

NAEYC Accredited

We did it! The National Association for the Education of Young Children has reaccredited Village Children’s Center. After we all have worked hard on their 413 rigorous criteria and standards in all areas of Early Childhood Education, they sent out a validator and gave us a HUGE thumbs up! Out of 10 categories such as health, relationships, curriculum, etc. we received 100%+ in six areas, 100% in 2 areas, 96% in one area and 80% in the last area.  So no worries, we are getting right to work to improve that last category, 80% just won’t do.  There are only 3 accredited schools in SLO County and being one of them is an honor.  To know that we are doing all we can in the best interest of children feels great!  I still feel though that our greatest strength is on our love of children.  We will, as always in the past, continue to work hard to meet the needs of every child who is a part of our Village family.
